Profile
Mai Wegener works as a Psychoanalyst in Berlin. She is co-organiser of the Psychoanalytic Salon Berlin (www.pasberlin.de) and of the Psychoanalytic Libary Berlin (www.psybi-berlin.de). She is also an active scholar of Cultural Studies and the History of Science and lectures in Literature at the Technical University of Berlin. She has worked at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin (2009/10), as guest professor in Cologne at the Academy of Media Arts (2008), and for the Centre for Literature and Cultural Research Berlin (2001-2005). In 2001 she obtained her PhD with the thesis Neuronen und Neurosen. Der psychische Apparat bei Freud und Lacan. Ein historisch-theoretischer Versuch zu Freuds Entwurf von 1895 (published 2004) in Kulturwissenschaften at the Humbold Universität Berlin.
Her interest in dream studies is connected to her work in and about Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalysis. She is broadly interested in cultural changes concerning the interpretation of phenomena between psyche and body.
